Layers of a City - Peter Bogaczewicz

Layers of a City

A city is a complex story being told through the buildings and the spaces between them. The story writes itself and it speaks to the collective efforts of society to develop and reinvent itself over time. Cities are the great depositories of history and culture, and are visibly layered with the composition of their parts. "Layers of a City" is an analytical view of one such modern city, Toronto.

As in many North American cities with a common history of colonization, this one is a thriving organism, changing and becoming more complex and sophisticated with time, but in doing so, capable of leaving part of its past behind: "Toronto,” an aboriginal word, is the poignantly subtle surviving reference of a very different past... This series begins to unfold the layers, analyze and read them like a book.
